Sydney Williams

Over the past 8 years I’ve worked in judicial settings with veterans and adolescents, including diversion programs, treatment courts and small claims dispute resolution. I’ve worked in elementary schools supporting IEPs, staff trainings, and student mental health, as well as community mental health and nonprofit focusing on trauma, CPS involvement, and foster/adoption. I eventually transitioned into private practice expanding my parent and adult work, dissociation treatment, and parts works.

I am trained in EMDR by an approved EMDRIA program, in trauma focused-cbt, and trained in IFS by certified providers. I am certified as a clinical trauma provider, a clinical family trauma provider, and currently in the process of my certification as an attachment trauma treatment specialist.

I’ve spent my career delving into child and adolescent therapy, attachment and family work, trauma, complex trauma, and dissociation, working with clients to increase their ability to manage emotions, return safely to their felt experiences within their body, reduce shame, heal attachment wounds, and process stuck or overwhelming traumatic experiences.

After specializing with kids, adolescents, and their attachment figures, I realized how necessary that skill set is when working with adults. Often, relationship issues, parenting challenges, adult needs, and mental health symptoms were stemming from inner child parts fighting to be seen, loved, and cared for, or needing to learn new ways to navigate and cope with the adult world.

I continue my training and education in parts work, attachment, shame, somatic work, trauma, and complex trauma, including modalities like IFS and EMDR. These modalities along with traditional frameworks like CBT and DBT allow clients to better manage mental health symptoms like anxiety, depression, overthinking, self criticism, perfectionism, ADHD and dysregulation, while also increasing self compassion, reducing shame, meeting their adult needs, and processing trauma. When working with children, I utilize play-based modalities such as trauma play, synergetic play, and expressive approaches like sand tray and art to bring these frameworks to them.

I believe you should have access to the best possible care from a therapist with quality training and a strong toolkit to meet you where you’re at, and to support learning and healing for lasting change. I don’t take this work lightly, and I’m honored to join each of my clients in their therapy journey.

My goal is for therapy to be a place of safety, for you to be seen and witnessed, for all parts of you to be welcomed and accepted, and for there to be guidance and grounding when you feel stuck, lost and overwhelmed. I hold unconditional positive regard for each of my clients. I believe we all possess exactly what we need to heal and change, and that within a safe relationship, we can access all parts of self that are held, with compassion, connectedness, and clarity. I do this work because I believe it’s possible, and I believe in you. I can’t wait to witness your growth and healing.
